Today in class we discussed how to reread and revise our stories, focusing on one thing at a time. We compared this focused revision to wearing glasses with different lenses - we read through many times, each time looking for something different. Today, I reread my story, looking for what my story was really about. I wanted to make sure it was really about Marie's struggle to balance her job with her family.
Also, I read with a "Cardboard Character Alert" lens, checking to make sure that my characters seemed real, and not like paper dolls.

someone else and asked if I needed to add something to my story to make my story sound better. She said it sounded great,so I added a little more to my storyand the time was up for readers workshop.

Today I was looking through my revising lens and i edited millions and millions of mistakes so looking through lenses is a good way to see if you make some obvious mistakes.

Elias, I liked your idea about looking through an editing lens! You could even look through a punctuation lens, a spelling lens, or a word choice lens! I'm going to share your idea with the class tomorrow during Writer's Workshop (if you don't mind!).
